Requirements

 

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Current or eligible for Virginia teaching license
  • Minimum of three years of successful, full-time teaching experience required.
  • Applicant must demonstrate a strong background in the integration of technology into classroom teaching and instruction. 
  • Technology industry certifications are highly desirable.       
  • Candidate must possess the professional and interpersonal skills and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, teachers, administrators and support staff. 

 

 

Essential Duties

 

  • Collaborates with teachers to develop lesson plans that utilize appropriate technology resources
  • Provides support for classroom teachers through observations, collaboration and implementation of lessons
  • Team teaches lessons and models effective instructional and technology integration strategies to achieve students’ instructional goals
  • Must be knowledgeable of current hardware, software, and peripheral resources available in the building/division to support instructional goals
  • Identifies professional development needs for staff and works with school and division administrators in developing and implementing training sessions on the use of instructional software, applications, hardware and related peripherals
  • Provide support to school staff, secretaries, administrators and other personnel on the use of various technology software packages
  • Provides training in a variety of ways (i.e., small/large groups, individually, and during various times of the day including after school hours)
  • Assist in the evaluation and selection of computer technology programs
  • Maintain and/or assist students to maintain the school website and assist teachers to maintain their websites
  • Assist teachers with the use of the student database management system
  • Attends all training/communication events as requested by school principal or Network Administrator
  • Assist with setting up and administration of online SOL testing when appropriate
  • Assist technology support technician to install and set up programs and assist teachers to troubleshoot minor computer technology problems
  • Assist with data analysis as related to improving instruction
  • Maintains records of training sessions/attendance, requests for assistance and effective integration of current technology
  • Shall participate in technology training to upgrade and improve skills in hardware and software applications determined essential for instruction or school operations.
  • Promotes technology use (i.e., technology fairs, parent classes, technology newsletters, web page, etc.)
  • Perform other technology related tasks as assigned by the immediate supervisor

 

 

The Instructional Technology Resource Teacher will be supervised by the Network Administrator in cooperation with building level administrators. The nature of the work may require the Instructional Technology Resource Teacher to work beyond normal school hours as a responsibility of the position.
